What's New in vSAN 6.5

There have been many enhancements to the newest version of vSAN. Here are some of the key features in vSAN 6.5:

Increased Flexibility

With the introduction of iSCSI target service, vSAN 6.5 extends workload support to physical servers. iSCSI targets are managed with Storage Policy Based Management (SPBM) and vSAN functionality deduplication, compression, mirroring, and erasure coding can be utilized. Using vSAN for physical server workloads and clustered applications can reduce the dependency on legacy storage solutions.

Next-Gen Hardware Support

Presenting support for 512e drives, vSAN 6.5 will allow larger capacities to meet the always growing space requirements of applications. New hardware innovations such as NVMe deliver performance gains for vSAN with up to 150k IOPS per host.
